Secretin of the Week - Tony Silva

Our Secretin of the Week is Tony Silva. I met this kid in Woodland at the Gearhead grand opening and thought he seemed cool. Now it's been about a year and he seems like family. Whodda thunk?

Name: Robert Anthony Silva (or "Tony Silva" and occasionally "Dan Peligro")
Band: I used to play guitar for The Zomboys.
Age: 16 Years Old.
City: Woodland, CA THE REAL CITY OF TREES
School: Woodland High School

[note from crystal - Tony is the less pink portion of this picture]

Favorite Secretions Song: I don't know. They're all that awesome. Probably like "Freaks Like Us" or "Fuckin' Zombies" or something like that.

Favorite Secretions Cover: "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight" by Hank Williams Jr. I love this song.

Favorite Secretions Album: Probably Faster Than The Speed Of Drunk. It's one of the only CD's in my big ass collection that I can listen to all the way through without skipping any songs.

Favorite Secretions Video: The live "She's a Robot" video from the My58 because I was there and that morning was so much.

Favorite Secretion: They're all my favorite. I love all of them.

When did you first see the Secretions? I saw them at the S.O.S. yard sale thing and I bought Til Death and it was awesome.

Describe your favorite Secretions related memory. I have a few...The first acoustic show I played I opened up for them and I was really nervous. I played "Troublemaker" and I looked over at Danny when I was playing and he was mouthing the words to me so I wouldn't forget them. And there was also the time when I got dumped and I went to a Secretions show a few days later and Danny dedicated "I'm Gonna Get you SO Laid" to me. That was pretty rad.

Do your parents know you're a Secretin, how do they feel about it? My parents know. My mom doesn't care but she doesn't like the Secretions' music because they cuss too much. and I just say "there's no such thing as cussing too much".

Do you have a favorite Secretions related picture? Yes, I do. The group picture from the morning of June 13th at the My58 studio.

I know you've been playing guitar for a while, tell me a little bit about your music. Are you in a band right now? I was in a band but I left about a month ago. I wanted to play more Ramones/Queers influenced stuff and they either wanted to play Hardcore or Grindcore. I don't mind hardcore so much but grindcore is not music. Lately I've been getting into a lot of folk punk and I'm thinking about starting up a folk punk band with some random people on the street.

What do you want to see on the Secretin Life Line or what ideas/items do you want to contribute? I wanna see random old ass videos of the Secretions doing wierd random things.

What are your top five favorite albums ever and why?
In no particular order...

One of them is definatly Faster Than The Speed of Drunk. Like I said, to me it's one of the few CDs I have that I can listen to all the way through without skipping any tracks.

One of my favorite all time albums has to be the Ramones' Rocket To Russia. I just really love that CD. It's one that I'm gonna love forever.

Another one, which some people might say I'm stupid for liking but I don't care, is Alkaline Trio's debut album Goddamnit. I think it is hands down one of the best punk albums ever made. It's got songs abour love, drinking, being depressed, "southern rock"(you'll get it if you listen to Alkaline Trio).

I love the Bouncing Souls, they're one of my favorite bands, so they're obviously going to be on this list. Maniacal Laughter. It's a really short record but it's so amazing! It think it's like 23 minutes long with like 12 songs. All of the songs are amazing. When I was 13 years old it was the CD I would listen to whenever I was feelin' down.

The last one I'd have to say is Tim by the Replacements. I recently picked this CD up at R5 a few weeks ago and it really is one of the most amazing CDs I have ever bought. I think "I'll Buy" is my favorite song off of that CD. Well, either that or "Bastards Of Young."

What's something most people don't know about you? I totally met Billie Joe Armstrong at the Gilman back in February! (Thanks Tori!)

What's the worst tattoo you've ever seen? I don't know I've seen some pretty bad tattoos. The coolest tattoo I've seen though was a guy I know who has a Clint Eastwood("Man With No Name"-era Eastwood) tattoo on his leg. It's pretty bitchin'.
