Name: Matt Endert/DGAF/O-MATIC...
Band: Rat-O-Matic
Age: 25
City: Carmichael
Favorite Secretions Song: Troublemaker
Favorite Secretions Album: Faster
Favorite Secretions Video: Faster, yea! Whoever made that is one clever guy!
Favorite Secretion: all of them!
When did you first see the Secretions? My friend's show was at the boardwalk, it was (thank god I has a poster of this) Friday, June 14th (2002, I'm gonna guess). Line up: Drowning Adam, Les Drageuers(though I think it's spelled wrong on the poster), Secretions (CD release for Til Death) and Groovie Ghoulies (CD Release also).
Describe your favorite Secretions related memory. I guess playing on stage with them...but getting asked and going on tour with them was pretty fucking cool. Once in a life time type dream, but I hope not!
Do your parents know you're a Secretin, how do they feel about it? They do! My mom thinks I'm weird, but tries to be hip about it and says, "yea! they secrete and..you suck..right? Ah, gross". And my dad tries to relate by telling me whenever someone is in the paper.
Do you have a favorite Secretions related picture? Some of the shake-face pics we took drunk in Redding, those are priceless.
You went on tour with Secretions and Final Summation...here are some questions about tour:
Grossest moment - there were a lot. Lots of cock and balls were seen on this tour, let's leave it there..ok?
Funniest moment - again, too many. I think Kiel walking into the house we were staying at in Waco, Texas the morning after getting HAMMERED DRUNK on his birthday was the best. "So guys, I was sleeping in the van and I hear this 'tap tap' on the window and open my eyes, it's cop! He asked if I knew where I was and I told him the last thing I remember was that it was my birthday the night before and I got really drunk. He asked if I was ok, I said, 'ahhh yea.' and he said that he was just checking because someone had reported a dead body in the front of a van out here. Then he said 'happy birthday, you can go back to sleep" or something like that.
Best show - Kiel's birthday show in Texas was really good. Not one person came to the show but we had a blast anyway!
Worst show - Little Rock, Arkansas. Blood, fights, G.G. Alan wanna-be, penis, broken glass, cops, people talking til 4am while trying to sleep...
Scariest moment - Monsoons in AZ. on the freeway were scary, thunder, lightning, insane rain...I slept through half of it.
Funnest night - Bisbee AZ. Shady Dell, drunk, rain, bbq, walking through a cemetery at 1 am, a lot of fun!
What did you learn (about the band, yourself, music, etc) by going on tour with the Secretions? I learned that I love the life on the road. When I came home it was very hard to get back to living my normal working life. There is a lot of great music all over the U.S. and great people, I found that I learned most about humans on tour. People were so kind hearted. They opened up their houses, food, selves (not sexually, but talking, hanging out). It really gave me faith that not all hope is lost in the country.
You're in a band with Mickie now, tell us a little bit about that. Well, I've been wanting to start a new band for a while. Mickie and I have thought about jamming too, so we started talking, tried out a drummer and found a great drummer on our first try. His name is Matt McCool (real name) and together we make up Rat-O-Matic. We play punk rock and roll, remake songs we like, make up or own, the usual, with added fun of us! I'm pretty excited to start playing shows soon!
What do you want to see on the Secretin Life Line or what ideas/items do you want to contribute? I think Crystal is doing a great job and anyway I can help I will. I'm kinda forgetful and lazy though, so I need kicks in my ass!
What are your top five favorite albums ever and why?
Misfits - Collections 1 and 2 (horror punk consumes me)
Queers - Live in West Hollywood (some amazing live music there, nonstop and raw)
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Majik (got me into music as an art form, not just music. It's amazing blend of punk, folk, funk, rock and a bit of hip hop..check out Uplift Mofo Party Plan too)
Joe Strummer - Streetcore (I don't listen to album much, but when I do I am always taken by it. It's a very thought provoking collection of music. Most of it isn't "punk rock" at all. "Get Down Moses" is amazing as is the heart breaking end to "Silver and Gold"
The Brodys - Stuck (The first local band I ever got into, its their newest CD, but it shines as far as their style of music goes)
What's something most people don't know about you? I eat my corn dogs with a fork. Wood sticks in mouths give me the heeby jeebies
What's the worst tattoo you've ever seen? Most tribal bands are pretty bad.
