Michale Graves w/ Danny @ True Love

I'm broke and had other plans, so I didn't make it out to the Michale Graves show at True Love the other night. Luckily, Secret Agent Erin was able to cover the story.

Thanks Erin!

"Wednesday night I tagged along with Danny to see him play with Michale Graves at the True Love. Being a little nervous about turn out, I had invited a couple friends to come along. I promised them a good show and while I knew that Michale's stuff was amazing, I wasn't so sure they would be into it. Thankfully, I couldn't have been more wrong (about turn out and about the show).

As usual, Danny was fantastic. He interacted with the crowd, smiled and joked and pulled off covers and Secretions songs beautifully. I always enjoy seeing him play.

But Michale Graves...

Briefly stated: Michale Graves' solo acoustic album Illusions does not do him justice.

Don't get me wrong, the album is fantastic (you should go buy it now!), but his solo performance took my breath away (and not just because there were 50 sweaty kids packed in the 2nd floor room of the True Love when it was over 100 degrees outside).

As silly as it sounds, Michale Grave's opened up and came to life as he played. His haunting lyrics and equally haunting vocals had me on the edge of my seat and close to tears for an hour and a half. Just something about the way he sang...he sang in a way that sounded like he would explode if he couldn't get it out. Like he had no choice but to belt out songs like Frostbite & Casket and send chills up my spine. To top it all off, he seems like an awesome guy. He told stories about his songs, took requests and hung around after the show to sign posters and talk to fans. If you couldn't make it to the show or didn't feel like spending $10, I feel sorry for you.

Despite that fact that the 2nd floor of the True Love was at least 785 degrees, I think that everyone walked out of that show wanting more. I know that I can easily say that it was one of the best shows I have ever been to."
