Good News, Bad News

Let's just start with the bad news (and the reason there have been no updates lately).

As you may have already heard on myspace, Mickie's little sister, Laura, was killed Thursday, May 23rd when she lost control of her car and hit a tree. She was 28 years old, a newlywed, and a total smart-ass with heart of gold. It's been a VERY fucking difficult week for Mickie, and everyone else who knew her. She was Mickie's first and number one fan, and was always so proud of his musical career, even when the rest of the family was looking down on him because of it. She's going to be sorely missed, and nothing is ever going to make it okay that she isn't around anymore.

She was living in Anchor Bay, a small coastal town above Petaluma with her husband, roommate, and dog. The whole family went up to her house and mourned together last weekend, then we held a small, local service for her at a good friend's house on Monday. Her official service will be held in Long Beach this Saturday. Mickie and I were going to make the trip down there, but his family convinced him to go ahead and play the show with Ashtray at the Java Lounge. Laura really would have wanted it that way and there is truly no better way to honor her memory.

Please come to the show, both in support for Mickie and support for our punk rock family, Ashtray. And if you see Mickie, give him a big wet kiss on the mouth.

On a lighter note, Danny found this video and it actually made me laugh (which I didn't think was possible right now).
